Tradition and innovation in Taicang: the timeless elegance of Laminam materials
Taicang, in Jiangsu Province, is a fast-growing city where modernity merges seamlessly with the Chinese cultural heritage.
This dynamic context is the setting for the new private residence styled by designer Zhang Mingtao, where the choice of materials plays a central role. Laminam was chosen as the ideal partner for this project thanks to the aesthetic and technical versatility of its ceramic surfaces, with their ability to fit immaculately into both interiors and outdoor areas.
Visual and tactile continuity in the outdoor spaces
One of the project’s key features is its approach to the outdoor spaces, where the designer opted for an understated, tactile aesthetic. The paving of the corridor which crosses the terrace, and some parts of the facade, were clad with Ossido Bruno, a shade that evokes the natural oxidation of metal, and sets up a perfect dialog with the surrounding environment. The material’s deep texture and warm shades provide a sense of visual continuity, reinforcing the link between architecture and nature.

Tactile elegance in the bathroom area
In the heart of the bathroom area, the project makes full use of the stylistic variety Laminam offers. Here different surfaces, selected to create a refined, multisensory environment, come together in perfect harmony. The elegant whiteness of Travertino Navona (I Naturali collection) features alongside the radiance of Oxide Bianco, while the more emphatic shades of Ossido Verderame and Pietra Piasentina Taupe (IN-SIDE collection) complete the overall effect, generating a sophisticated interplay of contrasting colors, textures and reflections.
Refined materials for an atmospheric living area
Carefully selected Laminam materials also help to define a warm, contemporary style in the living area. The star of the design scheme is Porfido Marrone, chosen for use on the fireplace, the doors, the bathroom, and part of the lounge: a surface of great depth and vibrancy, reminiscent of the natural stone of the Alpine landscape. The flooring of the ground floor, on the other hand, is Fokos Roccia, a simple yet exciting finish that appears with discretion throughout the home, helping to create a coherent, relaxing mood.
