Geneva Villa

Geneva Villa

Ventilated façade system

A design completed in 2019 by JM Architecture, an internationally renowned Milan-based firm founded by Jacopo Mascheroni, combines formal purity with state-of-the-art architectural and technological solutions, including the extensive use of Laminam exterior cladding, for maximum energy efficiency. The result is a private residence which masterfully combines aesthetics with respect for the environment

With its large size, minimum thickness surfaces which outperform the natural materials which inspired them, Laminam contributed to cladding much of the ventilated façade system of the Geneva Villa, Special Mention at “La Ceramica e il Progetto” 2020 in the Residential Category. A well-deserved accolade for a design completed in 2019, which brings sustainability and minimalist architecture together with extremely elegant, refined results in a single-family residence of great aesthetic and visual value, situated on the outflow from Lake Leman in a quiet, leafy neighbourhood in Geneva, the Swiss capital of international diplomacy.

Integrating the architecture with its natural surroundings and landscape and using multiple energy-saving solutions take priority for every project. This sustainable approach led to the selection of Laminam surfaces in the Nero finish from the Collection series, in the 1000×3000 mm size and 5+ thickness. They were used to cover much of the façades of the two levels above ground, of the three which form the villa’s structure.

A composition of black and white thin frames

A composition of black and white thin frames

As the architect himself explains, “a composition of black and white thin frames articulates the solids and voids of the two levels above ground, while a series of white sunken patios brings air and natural light to the basement level. The frames, each corresponding to a specific interior space, are clad in black ceramic slabs by Laminam and white aluminum panels on a ventilated façade system”.

The high energy performance outer cladding, made for the most part with Laminam surfaces, also includes Stiferite thermal insulation within its ventilated façade and triple-glazed windows and doors. The heat pump and hot water supply benefit from a geothermal system, with five probes reaching 120m below ground, as well as solar and photovoltaic panels on the flat roof. A large, underground rainwater collection tank supplies the garden’s irrigation system. The villa thus reaches the highest energy efficiency standards, allowing it to obtain Minergie-P certification.

As an Italian multinational with a sustainable approach across the board, which instinctively looks to the future in constant pursuit of new goals, Laminam is proud to have contributed to achieving Minergie-P certification. Evolution is Laminam hallmark; an ongoing process which combines creativity and technology in order to continually offer bold new eco-friendly design solutions to architects, interior designers and the wider public, giving substance, form and elegance to the world of tomorrow with an environmentally friendly approach.
